How do you initiate a boot?

When I turn my laptop on, adjectives that happens is a cursor appears, and a few second later it jump to the second line of the eyeshade, how is it possible to boot XP? I have used the F8 option available but they have made no difference!

Answer:

use F2
usually the XP eyeshade is displayed immediately after the cursor thingy happen...if all is biddable, it shouldn't even be the case that you see the cursor....obtain your hardware (display card/RAM) checked...this had happen to me once and it turned out that my RAM was fried end in my machine overheated....
You will call for to reinstall Windows XP

Put the CD within the computer, restart the computer and before it have a chance to grasp to the windows blind, then press F8
As soon as u power up ur laptop, if u wish to boot from FDD or compact disc u suppose to go to the CMOS settings and revise ur boot order giving 1st priority to ur desired boot device. salvage the CMOS settings, get restarted and here u run. all boot files from the intended boot device comes to RAM and ur system get started.
