I'm spanking new to the apple world and I just get a used labtop thats still pretty new lately a few years old. It have mac os 10.3.9 on it. My freind give me a copy of the most modern os 10.4 on dvd cd's and everytime i try to install it wont work. it shows them but it wont boot up or anything I dont know what to do.

Insert DVD or CD 1 and lurk till it's icon shows up on your desktop. Reboot while holding down the C switch until you hear your hard drive reading it. Choose your native tongue and follow the prompts for Erase and Install. If that doesn't work then you own the wrong Install Discs for your laptop, in which valise you will need to procure a set of commercial Mac OS X Tiger Install discs.
