How does a touchpad know when you are using your finger?

My laptop's touchpad solely responds with my finger to some extent than anything else, for example a cd. And it also doesn't respond to my finger when I'm wearing gloves.

Answer:

Because the touchpad has supernatural adjectives powerful, superelectrical powers to know that your finger is the one that is touching the touchpad. That's why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
unnatural
Don't know for certain, but I'd vote heat.
Touchpads commonly operate by sensing the capacitance of a finger, or the capacitance between sensors. Capacitive sensors are laid out along the horizontal and vertical axes of the touchpad. The location of the finger is determined from the outline of capacitance from these sensors.
It's just similar to a woman's vagina... it knows a finger and it know the real entry!
